Kid in a candy shop.

I just found these pictures taken in Barstow, CA back in March.
He tried to climb over the candy counter.

Did you ever wonder?

Did you ever wonder what the thought process is that motivates people to do certain things… good or bad?  I’m always trying to figure out my eldest son’s thought pattern… but that is a whole other post.

The customer below bought 42 packages of chicken (I counted).  I wondered, is he having a big party, is he going fishing, maybe he has a large freezer and has brought dinner for the next 6 weeks.  This I am impressed by, as I can roamed through the grocery store for an hour and leave without one full dinner meal… again, that is whole other post.

Why, oh, why… 42 packages of chicken?

Too Funny

I was flipping through a book a few weeks back and came across this line:

“Never use the television as a babysitter.”

Baaa!! Haaaa!!! Haaaa!!

Now that is funny!  The author must not have children.

Waiter and Waiter

Kenzie: I want to be a waiter when I grow up.

Korben: You don’t have to grow up to wait…. we have to wait all the time now.

Kenzie:  Not that kind of waiter.

Korben: Oh, you mean the kind that spills drinks.

Kenzie: Yes

“Food” for thought

I have a 5 month old, my fourth child in a line-up of boy, girl, boy, girl.  As I was folding Freya’s (the 5 month old) clothes recently, I noticed the amount of sweet treat pictures that are on her clothes.  I can find similar pictures on my 5 year old girl’s clothes as well.  After having 2 boys I can safely say that I don’t recall ever seeing food pictured on their clothes.  Why is it that cupcakes, cookies, and ice cream cones are only pictured on girl clothes?

Happy Birthday Koah!

You turned 2 on June 5th… finally your birthday letter.

Dear Koah,

Today you are 2!  You are amazing!  My only brown eyed child.  You and I, the only brown eyes in our family.  You are a fast, strong, brave, agile, and a secure little boy.  All qualities that I admire in you.

There are nicks in my granite counter top because of you.  There are scratches on our TV screen because of you.  There are marker stains on the walls, the couch, the table top, the carpet, and the cabinets, all you. But if I could change you would I?…. no way.

I find it hard to keep up with you at times.  You love to run. There have been many times when I couldn’t find you.  When I do find you,  you are in the front of house walking down the sidewalk, likely trying to escape from the chaos around this place.

You are speaking in full sentences. And I love how expressive you are with your words.  You make sure it is known how you truly feel.  I believe this is a gift, as this is a difficult thing to do for many people.

You love to dance, particularly to the Black Eyed Peas, I Got a Feelin’.  This love for dance is also something we share in common.

You are the comic relief for our family.  You know when things are about to explode and just at these very moments is when you decide to bust a move or say something that is so funny we all can’t help but laugh.

You have a tender heart.  I have seen you cry when others are hurting. Yet you love your trains and you are very possessive of them.  And as kind hearted as you are, your trains are yours and don’t mess with them.

You know exactly how to annoy and antagonize your brother and sister.  You have put up with a lot from them so most of the time I allow you to do your thing with a little snicker on my face.

Four days before you turned 2 you became a big brother.  I questioned how you were going to be with a baby in the house.  You have been terrific with Freya.  And although you are sometimes a little too rough with her, most of the time you show her how much she is loved.

This past March we drove to California and then back to NJ.  When we left on this trip we knew there was a strong chance we would not make it to Cali driving with three kids but we made it.  You were unbelievably great.  Because you are the risk taker of the bunch I was little concerned about the Grand Canyon but we managed without you going overboard.

You are amazing and I’m so thankful to have you as part of our family.  You have taught me to laugh more, to let go, and love life more each day.  I thank you for this.  Your laugh and smile are infectious and I hope that you can keep your family and friends smiling even through the roughest of times.  I pray that as your mother I can keep up with your high energy personality and not allow my laziness to stifle you in any way.  I pray that your security and confidence will set you on path to follow and achieve your dreams. I’m so in love with you.

Happy 2nd Birthday,

Mama

August Goal

My goal for the month of August is to go through the papers that come home in Korben’s folder on his last day of Kindergarten back in June.  I am hoping to have these papers all sorted through by his first day of 1st grade.

Every so often

My kids argue a lot, they scream at one another, they hit , push, and sometimes kick one another.  There are times I wonder if I have done anything right when it comes to this mother thing.

But every so often I capture a moment in time when I see that they do know how to treat one another with respect and love.

Yesterday I captured this moment when Korben and Kenzie were working together to explain to Koah how to find hidden pictures in a magazine.

School’s Out for Summer

Kenzie, Koah, and I made this sign for Korben’s last day of Kindergarten.

I love summer but also brings on a new set of anxieties for me.  With 4 kids ages 6 and under, it is going to be one crazy summer.

Mailbox Restructure

Clearly our mailbox our mailbox is in need of repair.  Korben had his own idea on restructuring the mailbox.

Birthday Eve

It’s the eve before your birthday.  Much to my dismay, my water must be broken tomorrow morning to ensure that the midwife I would like to deliver you is there to catch you, and because I am approaching 42 weeks.  You have become quite comfortable inside of me and although I am anxious to meet you, hold you, find out what gender you are, and name you; I am rather comfortable having you stay put for a little longer too.  But it is time.

You are my 4th and final baby and we are excited to have you complete our family.

Sleepless nights here we come….

Lawn Ornament

Kenzie and I discovered this interesting lawn ornament while out together.
Kenzie in her most perlexed voice shouted, Mom what is that?
