Now Introducing Makenzie Rayne...

Weighing in at- 7lbs. 7ozs.

Weather- When we left for the hospital at 4am on Thursday morning, I remember the temperature in the car read 16 degrees, so what was the weather like, in one word...cold!

Going Home- We left Roosevelt Hospital in New York City on Friday at 5pm the week before Christmas.  Under these conditions we anticipated a long ride home.  Fortunately the traffic was as bad as was expected.  You were dressed in an outfit that Dada had purchased that afternoon at The Gap (we didn't have an outfit for you from home since we had neglected to pack a bag earlier than that morning at 4am as we were leaving). The jacket Dada bought was the ugliest jacket I have ever seen.  But because of the temperature I dressed you in it anyway.  You spit up on it on the ride home but nonetheless it was still returned to The Gap a few days later.  Grandma, Papa, and Korben were at the house to greet us when we arrived home for the first time.

Lovin' the Apples

We went apple picking with the Widmer gang in New York state. You had the opportunity to sample about five different kinds of apples. The final verdict after the sampling... you really like apples, all colors, all sizes.

Long Island=Long Driving

We take a trip to Long Island, courtesy of Icon Nicholson, we visit Montauk Lighthouse, take a walk on the beach and then sit in lots and lots of traffic.  If you have never sat in NYC traffic you haven't sat in traffic.  The plan was to drop off the car in NJ and then take the train back to our apartment in the city... simple right.  We arrived in the city (we had to drive through the city to get to NJ) 2 hours after we had anticipated.  We then make an attempt at continuing on to NJ but after grid lock traffic and the truck driver from behind us approaching our window asking us why we aren't pulling forward through the red light to make an attempt at blocking any car possible from the other way, we decide to ditch the plan of continuing to NJ.  We literally sat through 20 green lights before finally crossing over the street to head back to our apartment.

First Tooth

You cut your first tooth.  Not because I was checking for teeth did I discover one, it was because you grabbed my finger and bit down, like usual, but this time it didn't feel so soft on Mama's finger.  From that day forward I no longer made my finger available as a teething ring.

On the Go.

Your lower body catches up with your upper body and you put all 4 limbs in motion- you are officially crawling.

Scootin' Time

You begin to scoot. Your scooting involved using your upper body only to pull the rest of your body around which remained flat on the floor.  This is what happens when your arms are ready to crawl and your legs still need some time.  It is amazing how children can compensate when they are determined and motivated to get to that piece of cracker that fell on the floor earlier in the day.

Let's Rock & Roll

You decide to roll over.  I say "decide" because I sensed that you could have rolled much sooner then this.  But hey why roll over when Mama always places me in some cool new toy (exersaucer, bouncy seat, jumpy, etc.).

Snowshoeing

Your insane Mama and Dada take you snowshoeing at the Olympic Mountains.  After your first ferry ride we met Uncle PK and a group from his church and head for the mountains.  At first you weren't too thrilled about the drastic drop in temperature (either was Mama but at least she knew what to expect).  You quickly adjusted and had a great time, well at least I think you did, you slept most of the hike.

Full Night's Sleep

The first night we returned to Kirkland after our trip to NJ, you slept through the night.  This was certainly a memorable day. :)  Only 8 weeks, we are stoked!

Trip to NJ

We flew to NJ when Korben was about 7 weeks.  The nice thing about flying with infants, as opposed to toddlers, is that they sleep most of the flight as was the case with Korben.  The great thing about this trip was that Korben met lots of his aunts and uncles and Grandpa and Nana, but I was especially excited that he had the opportunity to meet Great Grandpa.

Day 7 with Baby Korben

After feeling cooped up in the house for a week I decided that I needed to get up and get out. We had been selling/giving away our Sonic season tickets since the baby was born but not tonight.  We headed to Key Arena where you (Korben) saw your first professional basketball game... well you didn't actually see the game since you remained sleeping through the entire game, including the big plays and cheering crowds.  By the way, the Sonics won that night.
